After majoring in Fine Arts at Indiana University for two years, Jocelyn transferred to the Feminist Art Program at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles to study with artists Judy Chicago, Miriam Schapiro and feminist art historian Arlene Raven. She was already an artist, but she wanted to be part the emerging women’s art scene articulating a female aesthetic and making substantive changes in the male dominated art world.
The following paintings come from that period in Jocelyn’s artistic life. The fruits and vegetables she painted were metaphors for the vibrant and changing times in her growth as well as the women’s movement at large.
The following paintings are on permanent display at Indiana University, Kokomo Campus
